Ivan Pepelnjak at IOShints posted the slides from his presentation on Data Center Fabric Architectures to the very first EuroNOG meeting (http://euronog.eu/meeting2011).
The content includes some of the newer features in Brocade’s NOS 2.1.0 release powering their VCS Ethernet fabric. I also asked Ivan if he can update this material in the future to cover Brocade’s implementation of multi-chassis link aggregation, which Brocade calls Multi-chassis Trunking (MCT). Here is a link to a MCT white paper and a second paper on how to implement MCT. To read the second one you can join the Brocade community.
Brocade provides both fabric technology, Virtual Cluster Switching, and multi-chassis link aggregation to eliminate STP in the data center network. Ivan’s presentation shows why fabrics and multi-chassis link aggregation are important building blocks for the data center network.
